Oil Painting of Figures at Sunset
I recently sold my second painting!
This is an oil painting I completed earlier this year, though I originally started the painting during college. The idea is based off an image I took of my friends on a beach during sunset on Lake Michigan when I was in high school. I thought the silhouettes of my friends on the beach was so picturesque that I knew I wanted to capture it in paint someday. This unfinished canvas has sat in my house for years, waiting for me to be patient enough to repaint the sky until recently a friend wanted me to finish the painting so they could buy it. This encouraged me to complete it and it is the second painting I have ever sold. I titled it “To God be the Glory” first because of how beautiful the sunset is and second how the figures in the foreground look as though they are worshippers. The title also involves my own faith as I paint, draw, or design.
I hope to continue painting this fall on some new projects! Also, a recent conversation inspired me to update my blog with some of my paintings, so I will be working on that this month.
